St. Antoni (French: Saint-Antoine) is a municipality in the district of Sense in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It is one of the municipalities with a large majority of German speakers in the mostly French speaking Canton of Fribourg.
St. Antoni is first mentioned in 1690 as S Antonii.
St. Antoni has an area of 16.79 km2 (6.48 sq mi). Of this area, 12.2 km2 (4.7 sq mi) or 72.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 3.2 km2 (1.2 sq mi) or 19.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.26 km2 (0.49 sq mi) or 7.5% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.18 km2 (0.069 sq mi) or 1.1% is either rivers or lakes and 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 0.1% is unproductive land.
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 4.6% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.2%. Out of the forested land, 17.2% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.8% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 38.2% is used for growing crops and 33.4% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
The municipality is located in the Sense district. It consists of the village of St. Antoni and the hamlets of Bächlisbrunnen, Burg, Burgbühl, Guglenberg, Henzenried, Lampertshalden, Lehwil, Mellisried, Ober- and Niedermonten, Niedermuhren, Schwenny, Tutzishaus, Weissenbach and Winterlingen.
The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Per fess Or a Tau Cross issuant with two Bells Sable and Azure three Annulets Argent. The Tau cross is a symbol of the hermit St. Antoni.
St. Antoni has a population (as of December 2015[update]) of 2,014. As of 2008[update], 3.1% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (2000–2010) the population has changed at a rate of 3.1%. Migration accounted for 0.3%, while births and deaths accounted for 1.5%.
