Smithfield is a home rule-class city in Henry County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 106 at the 2010 census. The mayor of Smithfield is Greg Gephart.
Smithfield was a station on the Louisville and Cincinnati Railroad. A post office has been in operation in Smithfield since 1851.
Smithfield is located in southwestern Henry County at 38°23′8″N 85°15′21″W / 38.38556°N 85.25583°W (38.385521, -85.255940). It is 7 miles (11 km) southwest of New Castle, the Henry County seat, 8 miles (13 km) southeast of La Grange, and 32 miles (51 km) northeast of Louisville.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Smithfield has a total area of 0.14 square miles (0.35 km2), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 102 people, 43 households, and 26 families residing in the city. The population density was 763.1 people per square mile (302.9/km²). There were 47 housing units at an average density of 351.6 per square mile (139.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.02% White and 0.98% Native American.
There were 43 households out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.2% were married couples living together, 4.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.5% were non-families. 37.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 3.19.
