Skin Food (Hangul: 스킨푸드) is a South Korean skincare and cosmetics manufacturer and retailer, headquartered in Seoul. The owner of the company has been involved in the skincare business since 1957. The main concept of the company is to create products with nutritional values of food. The company slogan is "beauty food for the urban sweety".
Its headquarters is located in the DaeRyung Scecho Tower in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu near Gangnam Station.
Skin Food's logo, as seen on all of their products, is a guardian angel. The logo was designed to convey the message to their customers of the purity and goodness in their products.
It has 895 stores throughout Korea, located in shopping districts, hypermarkets, shopping malls and residential areas. Such as the 66㎡ store in Changcheon-dong, Seodaemun-gu which has been opened since June 2004 and it also sells Traditional Korean medicine or hanbang, and two outlets in Seoul’s main shopping district Myeongdong. In August 2012, as part of Lotte Department Store's expansion programme into China, Skin Food is featured in a replica of Myeong-dong in its new store in Tianjin, along with Missha and The Face Shop.
Skin Food has seen increase in sales from foreign visitors and have opened outlets outside South Korea in countries such as Taiwan, Philippines, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong. Korean actresses Sung Yu-ri and Brazilian singer Stephanie Garden were featured in Skin Food Korea commercials.
Skin Food's products range from makeup, skin care, body and hair products. They use natural food and produce in its original form as ingredients, which include fruits, vegetables and other food ingredients. Their product lines includes Salmon Darkcircle Concealer Cream, Black Sugar Mask Wash-Off, and the Omija Whitening Line, which is packaged with teabag toner, whitening emulsion, serum and creams. Other products include Aloe Sun BB cream, Peach Sake skincare line, Rice Mask Wash-Off, Coffee Body Scrub and Carrot Collagen Eye Sheet. Their packaging is inspired by plastic containers for condiments and foods, which also includes labels and instructions in English.
