Sir John Brownlow, 3rd Baronet

Sir John Brownlow, 3rd Baronet (26 June 1659 – 16 July 1697) was an English Member of Parliament.

Brownlow was the eldest surviving son of Sir Richard Brownlow, 2nd Baronet of Humby, and Elizabeth Freke. He was educated at Westminster School. He succeeded his father as third Baronet of Humby in 1668 and in 1679 he inherited the Belton estates, including Belton House, from his great-uncle Sir John Brownlow, 1st Baronet of Belton.

In 1686 he was treasurer of the Marshalsea and in 1688 appointed as High Sheriff of Lincolnshire. In 1689 he was elected to the House of Commons for Grantham, a seat he held until his premature death in 1697.

Brownlow married Alice, daughter of Richard Sherard, in 1676. He committed suicide in July 1697 after suffering from severe gout, aged only 38, without surviving male issue. He was succeeded in his title by his younger brother William Brownlow and his considerable estate was divided among the four daughters. His daughter Elizabeth married the 6th Earl of Exeter; his daughter Jane married the 2nd Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven and his daughter Alicia married the 2nd Baron Guilford.
