Shop Street is the main thoroughfare of the city of Galway in the west of Ireland. It is pedestrianised.
As its name suggests, it is Galway's main shopping street, and contains old brick buildings, bright storefronts, numerous pubs and an array of street performers. Buskers are prevalent.
Shop Street contains central Galway's best preserved ancient building, Lynch's Castle. This has since been converted into a branch of Allied Irish Banks.
Dubray Books is a bookstore on Shop Street. Ryan Tubridy has signed copies of his tome there.Eason & Son also have a branch nearby.
