Sholavaram

Sholavaram is a suburb, 24 km (15 mi) north of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is primarily known for the Sholavaram lake and the adjoining defunct motor racing track. The race track was used as an air strip during World War II; racing events were conducted between the early 60s and the late 80s. Racing events usually took place every year until the Madras Motor Sports Club built a new track at Irungattukottai, Sriperumbudur, Chennai.
