Shafter is a ghost town in Elko County, Nevada, United States.

In the early times it was known as Bews. Shafter was founded in 1906 as siding for the Nevada Northern Railway. In 1907 was renamed Shafter in 1907, when the Western Pacific Railroad's Feather River Route arrived. In this place lived 40 inhabitants. A school was opened there and was closed in 1932. In 1959, the post office has closed and with it the death of the town. Today the only remains are foundations. Although the town is abandoned, this particular section of the railroad is still called the Shafter Subdivision.
