Seoul Subway Line 8 of the Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation was built 1990–99 and mainly serves the southeastern parts of Seoul and Seongnam. Moran to Amsa was opened July 1999. Its color is rose.
In 2014 construction was planned to begin to extend the line north of the Han River through Guri Station to Byeollae Station on the Gyeongchun Line. The extension will add 11.37 km of line to the already existing 17.7 km. Construction is set to finish in 2023. Potentially the southern end will be extended 3.9 km to Pangyo Station around 2023.
