The Secretariat of State of Security of Spain is a department within the Ministry of the Interior. The Secretariat was founded in 1986, originally called General Direction of Security. The Secretariat of State is ruled by the Secretary of State of Security that is the second in command of the Ministry (the equivalence in the United States would be Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security).
