Sanborn Township is a civil township of Alpena County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,116 at the 2010 census.
Ossineke is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in the township on Lake Huron at the mouth of the Devils River. The census-designated place includes an area north of the community along the Lake Huron shore and south of the community along US 23. Despite having the same name as the community, Ossineke Township is adjacent to Sanborn Township to the west.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 49.7 square miles (128.8 km2), of which 43.8 square miles (113.4 km2) is land and 5.9 square miles (15.4 km2), or 11.96%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,152 people, 838 households, and 619 families residing in the township. The population density was 49.1 per square mile (19.0/km²). There were 979 housing units at an average density of 22.3 per square mile (8.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.23% White, 0.23% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 1.07% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.56% of the population.
