Guerrilla Cambridge (formerly SCE Cambridge Studio) was a British video game developer and studio founded on 4 July 1997 when Sony Interactive Entertainment acquired Millennium Interactive, based in Cambridge, England, United Kingdom. The developer is mainly known for developing the MediEvil series on the original PlayStation and the PlayStation Portable.
On 10 January 2013, Sony Computer Entertainment restructured Cambridge as a subsidiary of Guerrilla Games, primarily to develop Killzone games for the PlayStation Vita. Sony Computer Entertainment then rebranded SCE Cambridge Studio to Guerrilla Cambridge.
On January 12 2017, Sony confirmed the closure of Guerrilla Cambridge.
Guerrilla Cambridge was founded in 1988 as Millennium Interactive by Michael Hayward, Tony Beckwith and Ian Saunter. It saw success with the development of James Pond alongside two more sequels. Other games developed by the studio were Cloud Kingdoms, Horror Zombies from the Crypt, and Super Troll Islands.
On 4 July 1997, the Millennium development studio, along with several of the projects in development, was sold to Sony Computer Entertainment and renamed to SCE Cambridge Studio. 12 games were developed under this new name, which spanned across the first three PlayStation home consoles and the PSP. Among these were three MediEvil games, two for the PlayStation and one for the PSP. They also contributed to multiple other games including Killzone 2, Heavenly Sword and PlayStation Home.
