Roseau River 2


Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation is a First Nation in southern Manitoba, Canada.

It has a registered population of 2,152 individuals. The First Nation has three reserves, of which the Roseau River No. 2 has an area of 22.242 square kilometres (8.588 sq mi), while the Roseau Rapids No. 2A (49°12′39″N 96°56′23″W / 49.21083°N 96.93972°W / 49.21083; -96.93972) is considerably smaller at 3.23 square kilometres (800 acres), and Roseau River No. 2B (49°59′58″N 97°18′56″W / 49.99944°N 97.31556°W / 49.99944; -97.31556) even smaller at 75.4 acres (305,000 m2). Roseau River No. 2 & 2A are located approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) apart, and about approximately 80 kilometres (50 mi) south of Winnipeg. Roseau River No. 2B is located at the junctions of Highway 6 & 236 and the Perimeter Highway on the northwest side of Winnipeg, Manitoba, well over 100 kilometres (62 mi) from the two other reserves.

The main reserve of Roseau River 2 is bordered by the Rural Municipality of Franklin and the Rural Municipality of Montcalm, while Roseau Rapids is entirely surrounded by Franklin, and Roseau River No. 2B, not having its own Canadian census subdivision, is enumerated as part of the Rural Municipality of Rosser. The Canada 2011 Census reported the official population of Roseau River 2 as 588 inhabitants, and Roseau Rapids 2A as 107 inhabitants. The population of Roseau River 2B, as part of Rosser, was not individually reported.
