Roseau is a city and county seat of Roseau County, Minnesota, United States. Its population was 2,633 at the 2010 census.
A post office called Roseau has been in operation since 1895. The city took its name from the nearby Roseau River.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.67 square miles (6.92 km2), all of it land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 2,633 people, 1,142 households, and 682 families residing in the city. The population density was 986.1 inhabitants per square mile (380.7/km2). There were 1,288 housing units at an average density of 482.4 per square mile (186.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.6% White, 0.3% African American, 0.6% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 0.1% from other races, and 0.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.1% of the population.
There were 1,142 households of which 31.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.5% were married couples living together, 10.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 40.3% were non-families. 37.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.23 and the average family size was 2.91.
