Ronald William Gainer (born August 24, 1947) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He is the eleventh and current Bishop of Harrisburg, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He previously served as the second Bishop of Lexington in Kentucky, before being named to Harrisburg.
Ronald Gainer was born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, as an only child to parents of Eastern European descent. He attended St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook, from where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969 and a Master's degree in Divinity in 1973. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 19, 1973.
Gainer served as pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Whitehall. Within the Diocese of Allentown, he served as Secretary of the Diocesan Tribunal, Secretary for Catholic Life and Evangelization, and Judicial Vicar. He did his graduate studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, earning a Licentiate in canon law in 1986. He was raised to the rank of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness on August 20, 1991.
