Rhys Thomas (producer)

Rhys Thomas is a British director and producer best known for his work on Saturday Night Live and the IFC series Documentary Now!

Rhys Thomas was the SNL Film Unit producer and in 2010 became a director for the film unit as well. In 2015 he made his feature film debut with the film Staten Island Summer written by Colin Jost. That year he also directed John Mulaney’s stand up special The Comeback Kid for Netflix. In 2015 he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special as a producer for the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special. The following year he was nominated for two Primetime Emmys, the award for Outstanding Variety Special as a producer on Adele Live in New York City, and the award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series as an executive producer on Documentary Now! Thomas is also the co-creator and co-director of the series. He also produced the opening segment for the talk show Late Night With Seth Meyers. He also directed the six episodes of the Amazon series Comrade Detective.
