Rampura, Sankheda Mehwas


Rampura is a village and former petty princely state in Gujarat, western India.

The non-jurisdictional Seventh Class state in Mahi Kantha was part of Katosan thana and was ruled by the Koli Chieftains.

In 1901 it has a population of 353, yieding a state revenue of 1,901 Rupees (mainly from land), paying 49 Rupees tribute to the Gaekwar Baroda State.

In 1940 the Attachment Scheme saw Rampura and various other tributary (e)states merge into Baroda State, which in 1949 merged into independent India's Bombay State.
