Raja Ram Mohan Roy (22 May 1772 – 27 September 1833)
According to the thomas macaulay english learning id far better than that of the sanskrit and arebic learning which was a totally childish thinking.
At the time of macaulay madras precedancy has 1.5 lacs of higher learning instututes and villages they serve are 1.57 lacs.so one college for each village approximately.
This institutes serves couses of surgery architecture and many more coote's nose surgery itself defines the higher education system of india without a english language and convent schools.macaulay ordered to bann all this 1.5 lac gurukuls.and advertised publically that the donors of gurukuls will be considered as a illegal personnel.by this way he crumpled indian gurukul learning system and gave convent school. To serve his motive he appointed an indian man in this distruction he is no one other than "raja ram mohan roy"He tried to convince people village to village for this convent school learning."raja rammohan roy" is really a destructor of whole vaidik sanskriti of india and its education system.Though he tried hard people of vardhman, culcutta were not ready to send their children to convent school.
Cause they know about the trap of macaulay.convent schools was in early time for orphans not for higher studies. And for marketing purpose of this school raja ram mohan roy was appointed.
he was the founder of the Brahmo Sabha movement in 1828, which engendered the Brahmo Samaj, an influential socio-religious reform movement. His influence was apparent in the fields of politics, public administration and education as well as religion. He was known for his efforts to establish the abolishment of the practice of sati, the Hindu funeral practice in which the widow was compelled to sacrifice herself in her husband’s funeral pyre in some parts of Bengal. It was he who first introduced the word "Hinduism" into the English language in 1816. For his diverse activities and contributions to society, Raja Ram Mohan Roy is regarded as one of the most important and contentious figures in the Bengali renaissance. His efforts to protect Hinduism and Indian rights and his closeness with the British government earned him the title "The Father of the Indian Renaissance".
Ram Mohan Roy was born in Radhanagar, Arambagh subdivision, Hooghly District, Bengal Presidency, in 1772, into the Rarhi Brahmin caste. His father Ramkanta was a Vaishnavite, while his mother Tarinidevi was from a Shivaite family. This was unusual - Vaishnavite did not commonly marry Shivaite in those times.
