Roads in the Philippines

Quirino Highway, formerly called the Manila-del Monte Garay Road or Ipo Road, is a highway located in Quezon City, Philippines which spans from 4 to 8 lanes. It is one of the major roads in Metro Manila and is part of Radial Road 7 (R-7).

Although originally named as the Manila-del Monte Garay Road, it was later changed to the Don Tomas Susano Road, after the first officially recognized political leader of the district, during the American Occupation of the Philippines. The name changed once more to Quirino Highway, right after the death after Philippine President Elpidio Rivera Quirino (1890-1956), who had lived in a nearby retreat house and passed away in the very same residence.

Quirino Highway starts from Norzagaray, Bulacan and passes through the areas of San Jose del Monte, Malaria, Pangarap, and Lagro in Caloocan, Novaliches, C-5 Road, Tandang Sora and ends Balintawak Cloverleaf in North Luzon Expressway in Quezon City. It is also the alternate route for going to Baliuag and up to Cagayan Valley via Cagayan Valley Road.

Seven major power lines with voltages of 115,000, 230,000, and 500,000 cross or intersect at specific portions. These are the Angat - San Jose del Monte, San Jose-Tayabas, San Jose-Taytay, San Jose-Balintawak, Balintawak-San Rafael, Hermosa-Balintawak, and Mexico-Balintawak transmission lines, all belong to National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). Distribution lines that are operated and maintained by various distribution companies can also be seen or found on the highway.
