Publix operates throughout the Southeast, with locations in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina, with plans to expand to Virginia in 2017.
Founded in 1930 by George W. Jenkins, Publix is a private corporation that is wholly owned by present and past employees. It is considered the largest employee owned company in the world. It is currently ranked No. 67 on Fortune magazine's list of 100 Best Companies to Work For 2016 and was ranked No. 8 on Forbes' 2015 list of America's Largest Private Companies and is the largest in Florida.
