Pušalotas is a small town in Panevėžys County, in northeastern Lithuania. According to the 2011 census, the town has a population of 692 people.
10 Jewish men and women as well as alleged Communists were murdered in July 1941, in the Jewish cemetery of the city. In the same month local white armbanders shot 18 more Jews in the forest of Šadeikoniai. Another execution of the town’s Jews might have taken place in August or September 1941 with 248 killed. The exact date and circumstances of the massacre are not known.
The father of Ehud Barak, the former Israeli prime minister, defense minister, and commando with Sayeret Matkal was born in Pušalotas. Ehud Barak's grandparents were also from Pušalotas. His grandparents were murdered in Pušalotas during the Tsarist Russian era by bandits who stole their valuables.
