Prince Oscar of Sweden, Duke of Skåne (Oscar Carl Olof; born 2 March 2016), is the younger child and only son of Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel. He is the fourth grandchild and second grandson of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. He is third in the line of succession to the Swedish throne, after his mother and his sister, Princess Estelle.
Prince Oscar was born on 2 March 2016 at 20:28 CET on Karolinska University Hospital. The birth was greeted by two 21-gun salutes on the island of Skeppsholmen, opposite . His names and title were announced the following day by his maternal grandfather, the King.Skåne is the southernmost titular duchy in Sweden and is known historically in English as Scania. There have been two previous Dukes of Scania in the House of Bernadotte, both became kings: Charles XV and Gustaf VI Adolf (Prince Oscar's great-great-grandfather).
