The Prime Minister of Timor-Leste (Portuguese: Primeiro-Ministro, Tetum: Primeiru-Ministru) is the head of government in East Timor. The President is the head of state. The Prime Minister is chosen by the political party or alliance of political parties with a majority in the national legislature and is formally appointed by the President. The Prime Minister oversees the activities of the government and chairs the Council of Ministers.
