Prem Nawas is an Indian film actor and producer in Malayalam cinema. He was the younger brother of Prem Nazir, the evergreen hero of Malayalam Cinema. His real name was Abdul Wahab. He was born in 1932 as the younger son of Shahul Hameed and Asmabeevi. He lost his mother at a very young age, and his father remarried. He was the first one to reach Madras searching for a film career, even before his brother. Prem Nawas debuted as the hero of 'Koodapirappu' in 1956. Prem Nawas was the hero in the first color film made in Malayalam, 'Kandam Becha Coat'. He also played an important role in the blockbuster film 'Nellu', 1974 directed by Ramu Kariyattu. Unfortunately, he could not succeed as his brother. Later, he turned to producing films. He was the producer of the award-winning blockbuster Agniputhri (1967), which starred his brother and Sheela, the evergreen pair of Malayalam cinema. Prem Nawas's son Prem Kishore was an actor as well, acting in two Malayalam films, namely 'Vacation' and 'Thaskara Puthran'. Prem Nawas died in a train accident in Chennai on 27 March 1992, aged 60.
