Pod Save America is an American progressive political podcast, co-hosted by Jon Favreau, Tommy Vietor, Jon Lovett, and Daniel Pfeiffer.
The podcast began in January 2017 as a successor to Keepin' it 1600, a political podcast which ran from March to December 2016. It kept the same format with the same hosts. It is the flagship podcast of Crooked Media, a progressive media company of which three of the four co-hosts (Favreau, Vietor, and Lovett) are founders.
In an interview with Kara Swisher, the hosts have stated that rather than continue the previous podcast, the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States spurred them to create a new, progressive media company with a network of podcasts. Their goal is to inform, entertain, and inspire action or activism.
The podcast typically covers recent news items relating to politics (specifically the Trump Administration, the U.S. Government, and the Democratic Party), analyzing the possible outcomes and side effects of any legislation or action to the American public. The show often features a guest speaker involved in the show topic, usually an official or politician, either active or retired. The podcasters are all Democrats and their views run opposite of the current presidential administration. During podcasts, the hosts frequently inform listeners of varying ways to resist or to take political action (such as showing up to town halls or to consider running for local offices).
