Course of the Plenty River

The Plenty River is a perennial river of the Port Phillip catchment, located in the south-eastern Greater Melbourne region of the Australian state of Victoria.

The Plenty River rises in the forested slopes of Mount Disappointment, northwest of Humevale. The river flows generally south, joined by three minor tributaries, before reaching its confluence with the Yarra River southeast of Rosanna. The river descends 227 metres (745 ft) over its 47-kilometre (29 mi) course.

The river is impounded by the Toorourrong Reservoir and is the source of Melbourne's first major water supply reservoir, the Yan Yean Reservoir, completed in 1857.

Along the lower reaches of the river, both the Plenty River Trail and the Rosanna Golf Club can be located.
