Planview is a global enterprise software company headquartered in Austin, Texas.
The company was founded in 1989 in Austin, Texas by Patrick Durbin. In 1997, the company launched its complete web-based resource and project portfolio management (PPM) software, Planview Enterprise (version 14 as of 2017). In 2010, the company moved to the cloud to offer software as a service (SaaS) solutions.
In December 2013, Insight Venture Partners acquired a substantial interest in Planview.
In August 2014, Planview acquired Projectplace, a Stockholm-based project collaboration company. Planview went on to acquire Troux Technologies, an Austin-based enterprise architecture management software company, in May 2015. On Aug. 1, 2016, the company announced its acquisition of San Francisco-based Innotas, thus extending its IT project portfolio management software leadership into the mid-market. The newly combined entity established Planview as the premier leader in work and resource management solutions, creating a $180 million global company with approximately 700 employees and more than 3,000 customers.
In January 2017, Thoma Bravo acquired Planview, becoming the majority shareholder. Insight Venture Partners maintained its original 2014 capital investment in the company.
