Pipra (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: पिप्रा विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Purvi Champaran district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is an open seat now but was earlier reserved for scheduled castes.
As per orders of Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, 17. Pipra (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Chakia (Pipra), Tetaria and Mehsi community development blocks.
Pipra (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of 3. Purvi Champaran (Lok Sabha constituency). It was earlier part of Motihari (Lok Sabha constituency).
In the November 2010 state assembly elections, Awadhesh Prasad Kushwaha of JD(U) won the 17 Pipra, Purvi Champaran assembly seat defeating Subodh Yadav of RJD.Later he was sworn in as cabinet minister in Nitish Kumar cabinet. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Krishnanandan Paswan of BJP defeated Surendra Kumar Chandra of RJD in October 2005 and February 2005. Surendra Kumar Chandra of RJD defeated Krishnanandan Paswan, Independent, in 2000. Sahdeo Paswan of JD defeated Nandlal Chaudhary of Congress in 1995 and 1990. Nandlal Chaudhary of Congress defeated Sahdeo Paswan of LD in 1985 and Tulsi Ram of CPI in 1980. Tulsi Ram of CPI defeated Brahmadeo Ram Shastri of Janata Party in 1977.
