Penn Township is a township in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,924 at the 2010 census.
Penn Township is in west-central Cumberland County. The northern two-thirds of the township are in the Cumberland Valley, while the southern third extends up the slopes of South Mountain. Yellow Breeches Creek, a tributary of the Susquehanna River, flows from west to east across the center of the township.
U.S. Route 11 forms the northern border of the township, and Interstate 81 runs parallel to it across the northern part of the township, with access from Exit 37 (Pennsylvania Route 233). The township contains the unincorporated communities of Dickinson, Cumminsville, Hockersville, Hays Grove, Longsdorf, Huntsdale, Brushtown, and Cobblesville.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 29.7 square miles (76.8 km2), of which 29.6 square miles (76.6 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km2), or 0.23%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,807 people, 974 households, and 772 families residing in the township. The population density was 96.1 people per square mile (37.1/km²). There were 996 housing units at an average density of 34.1/sq mi (13.2/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.93% White, 0.25% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.46% from other races, and 0.78% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.71% of the population.
