Payne is a village in Paulding County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,194 at the 2010 census.

Payne was originally called Flatrock City, and under the latter name was laid out in 1872. The present name honors Henry B. Payne, an Ohio senator.

Payne is located at 41°4′46″N 84°43′38″W / 41.07944°N 84.72722°W / 41.07944; -84.72722 (41.079428, -84.727193).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.68 square miles (1.76 km2), all land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,194 people, 497 households, and 320 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,755.9 inhabitants per square mile (678.0/km2). There were 554 housing units at an average density of 814.7 per square mile (314.6/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 95.5% White, 0.4% African American, 0.1% Native American, 0.1% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 2.0% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races.
