Paul Robert Sanchez, (November 26, 1946) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church.
Sanchez was appointed Titular Bishop of Coeliana and Auxiliary to the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn on May 2, 2012 by Benedict XVI. He was consecrated on July 11, 2012.
Sanchez, a Brooklyn native, is an alumnus of St. Vincent Ferrer Parochial School, Cathedral Preparatory Seminary and Cathedral College. He studied in Saint Bonaventure University, New York, and the Pontifical North American College, Rome. Ordained a Roman Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn in 1971, Bishop Sanchez holds the STB and STL from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome and an MA in Liturgical Studies from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana. He served as parochial vicar of Our Lady of Mercy, Forest Hills, St. Michael, Flushing and St. Sebastian, Woodside.
Bishop Sanchez served as pastor of St. Agatha, Brooklyn and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Astoria. At the time of his appointment as Bishop, Sanchez was serving as the Episcopal Vicar of Queens. Currently, in addition to his duties as auxiliary bishop, he is the pastor of Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs, Forest Hills. Bishop Sanchez has been an adjunct instructor of theology at Saint John's University, Jamaica, NY, and the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, NY.
