Patterson is a city in Madison County, Iowa, United States. The population was 130 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Patterson was laid out in 1872. It derives its name from Alexander Pattison, the original owner of the town site, but the name was misspelled on the plat and stuck.
Patterson is located at 41°20′56″N 93°52′50″W / 41.348815°N 93.880684°W (41.348815, -93.880684), along the Middle River.

As of the census of 2010, there were 130 people, 57 households, and 37 families residing in the city. The population density was 650.0 inhabitants per square mile (251.0/km2).
