Podemos (PODE), previously known as National Labor Party (Portuguese: Partido Trabalhista Nacional, PTN), is a minor populist-centrist Brazilian political party founded in 1945.
It was founded by dissidents from the Brazilian Labour Party (PTB) in 1945, and supported the winning candidacy of Jânio Quadros in 1960. It was abolished by the military regime in 1965.
It was re-founded in 1995, led again by dissidents of the PTB. It has not achieved significant electoral success.
In May 2017, the party changed its name to Podemos (We Can). The change was inspired in the slogan of the 2008 presidential candidature of Barack Obama in the United States.
