The Paraguayan jaguar was proposed as a subspecies of jaguar, with the taxonomic name Panthera onca paraguensis (Hollister, 1914), native to Paraguay in the Gran Chaco or the Pantanal regions. Eventually, research failed to find evidence that the jaguar was divided into different subspecies.
