Palmarejo is a subdivision in the southwest of Praia in the island of Santiago, Cape Verde just east of the Plateau which is the city center. The size is very small, its length is 560 meters and its width ranges from 100 meters in the south to 360 meters in the middle. Its approximate size is 210 hectares.

Bordering neighborhoods include Terra Branca and Tira Chapéu in the northeast, Achada de Santo António in the east, Quebra Canela in the southeast, Praia de Cova Figueira in the southwest, Cidadela in the west, Palmarejo Grande in the southwest and Bela Vista to the north. The eastern boundary follows within the stream and runs north-south, the southwesternmost boundary also runs north-south. The boundary line is nearly 8 km long.

The lowest point is the Atlantic Ocean, the elevation for the old section is 20 meters and the new section is 55 meters, 48 meters at the route, 63-66 meters in the industrial portion and about 65 meters at the neighborhood of Monte Vermelho, the highest point is Monte Vermelho elevating 197 meters, one of the city's highest point.

The settlement is named after several palm trees located in the valley. These still exists today along with its trees.

The neighborhood center stretches for 600 meters, it includes the Old section which is on the stream and the valley and the new section which is in the west, surrounded by 5-story buildings and has the Palmarejo Square. The only forested sections are near Achada de Santo António and in Monte Vermelho.

The main street named after the neighborhood is in the north, the area's square is located nearby and the avenue named after the island is in the south. In the western section, many street names are named after islands, towns and cities in Cape Verde. Monte Vermelho has a street named Cidade do Brockton after one of Praia's twinning through Boston, Massachusetts, there has a large Capeverdean population. Avenida Grão Duque do Luxemburgo, part of the EN1-ST03 is in the north.

The main campus (Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts.) of the University of Cape Verde is headquartered and is located on Avenida Santo Antão, adjacent is Escola Abílio Duarte named after the freedom fighter and the first National Assembly member The headquarters of the nation's first private terrestrial network Record Cabo Verde is in the north of the neighborhood next to EN1-ST03. One of Praia's transmitters are on top of Monte Vermelho. Four small sports complexes primarily futsal have been constructed in the area including one in the valley area.
