Padrauna is a small town, and district headquarters of Kushinagar district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Its ancient name was Pava where lord Buddha took his last meal. It is the place where Lord Rama spent a few days of his life. Lord Rama passed from Padrauna and after that he reached at Ramkola where he made a hut with his wife Sita and younger brother Lakshman to stay. Padrauna is also the place of ancient Malla Kshatriyas who were following democratic way of ruling from their Santhagara.
The town is connected to many important cities with many Highways i.e. NH28B and State Highway No. 64. The town is well connected to different cities and towns with bus routes and buses provided by UPSRTC, one of the shatabdi bus daily runs from padrauna to kanpur via lucknow gorakhpur and kasya Padrauna railway station is on a broad gauge railway that connects to major cities of the country. At present trains run between Chapra and Lucknow. It is expected to have Kushinagar International Airport whose construction was stalled due to absence of an active public private partnership.The proposed Buddha Expressway between Kushinagar and Sarnath will provide connectivity with south eastern cities in the state like Varanasi, Allahabad, Azamgarh as well as Kolkata through National Highway 2 in Varanasi.
All houses are connected with cable TV networks or direct to home (DTH) connections. Many newspapers are popular i.e., Dainik Jagran, Hindustan, Amar Ujala, Rashtriya Sahara, I Can News Weekly , etc. Most of them are Hindi newspapers.
