Orient is a city in Orient Township, Adair County, Iowa, United States. The population was 408 at the 2010 census.
Orient had its start in the year 1879 by the building of the railroad through that territory.
Orient is located at 41°12′10″N 94°25′8″W / 41.20278°N 94.41889°W (41.202702, -94.418794).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.45 square miles (1.17 km2), all of it land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 408 people, 169 households, and 118 families residing in the city. The population density was 906.7 inhabitants per square mile (350.1/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.0% White, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% from other races, and 1.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
