Ontario Jockey Club

Woodbine Entertainment Group is responsible for operations of the race track at Woodbine Race Track in Toronto, Canada. The group changed their name from the Ontario Jockey Club in 2001 and also operates at Mohawk Raceway in Southern Ontario. Outside of race tracks, it owns WEGZ Stadium Bar, opened 2004 and up until its closure in 2015, The Turf Lounge, which opened 2003

WEG employs over 2,300 people at two racetracks, casino and other off-track betting stations across the Greater Toronto Area. Woobine also owns and operates the Canadian digital television service, HPItv and operates Canada's only online wagering platform for horse racing HorsePlayer Interactive.

The Ontario Jockey Club was founded in 1881 to improve the quality of horse racing in the city. William Hendrie, President of the Ontario Jockey Club, and of the Hendrie Co., Limited, was a railway promoter and capitalist.

In the 19th century, the city had a few other racetracks. The OJC once operated from the Greenwood Race Track, a facility once called Woodbine Race Track.

Now Woodbine Entertainment Group is partners with the new Connect Equipment Corporation, which supplies Woodbine with all of their Massey Ferguson tractor needs.
