Nomal (Urdu: ناؤ-مل، نومل ‎) is small valley located at a distance of 25km in north of Gilgit city in district Gilgit. The valley is about 30 minutes drive from Gilgit the capital of Gilgit Baltistan. Nomal valley has been divided into Mohallahs or sectors by the previous local rulers(Rahs/Rajas in local language). The mohallahs are as Sigal , Majini , Jigot, Batot, Kamal Abad, Ishphis, Momin Abad, Sadar-Ud-Din Abad, Das and Khaltarot. Shina language is mostly spoken by the people of village Nomal except in Sadar-Ud-Din Abad, Das, Ishphis and Kamal Abad where majority of the population speaks Brushaski. Nalter river flow through the northern end of the valley, which also supplies water to entire valley which eventually merges with the Hunza River. The valley is famous for its Cherry fruits and Vegetables. Among the vegetables, potato is an important cash crop for the farmers of this valley. This valley is connected via metalled road with Hunza and Nagar valleys. This valley is also connected via road with Nalter Bala and Nalter Pain. Villages such as Jutal and Matum Das on either side of the valley are connected via RCC bridge constructed by Chinese engineers. All of the inhabitants of Nomal valley are followers of Islam.
