The campus is on a 23-acre (93,000 m2) site in Govindapura, Gollahalli village 3 km from Baglur cross, on the way to Devanahalli airport on Hyderabad-Bangalore NH 7 and it is 25 km from Centre of Bengaluru.There is nothing close by.

NMIT was started by Vinaya Hegde, son of founder of NMAMIT, late Justice K. S. Hegde in 2001 after the success of Nitte Mahalinga Adyanathaya Memorial Institute of Technology (NMAMIT) at Nitte.

NMIT CleanRoom: Electronics lab of 10,000ppm used as integration chamber of first Indian Pico-satellite StudSat

Computer lab: 27 P-IV Computers + 8 Sun Micro Workstation; 20 systems connected through LAN; 2 printers; Internet Connectivity of 256 kbit/s through leased line.

Electronics lab: 7 P-IV Computers

Mechanical lab: 30 lathe machines along with 1 CNC lathe. Drilling, milling, sapper machines are available. highly equipped design lab, IC Engine lab, Manufacturing lab and Heat and mass transfer lab. Department also have 2 well equipped CAD labs.

Aeronautical lab: : Wind tunnel lab

The college also has a R&D Department always available for the students for research in different areas. A well equipped Robotics and MEMS lab are also available with around 7-8 ongoing projects.

The institution hosts its inter-collegiate techno-cultural fest under this banner. It started in 2004 with around 20 events and 19 performing colleges. It has popular attendance from mainly engineering colleges from across the country. It usually takes place for 3 days in the second week of March.
