Newtonsville was platted in 1838. A post office called Newtonsville has been in operation since 1847.

Newtonsville is located at 39°10′52″N 84°5′6″W / 39.18111°N 84.08500°W / 39.18111; -84.08500 (39.181156, -84.084977).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.25 square miles (0.65 km2), all land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 392 people, 132 households, and 103 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,568.0 inhabitants per square mile (605.4/km2). There were 144 housing units at an average density of 576.0 per square mile (222.4/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 99.0% White, 0.3% Native American, and 0.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.0% of the population.

There were 132 households of which 49.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.6% were married couples living together, 12.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 8.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 22.0% were non-families. 18.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
