He hosted Channel 5 coverage between 2007-2010 when Channel 5 dropped US Sports from its overnight schedules. After Channel 5 ended its US Sport coverage Coombs moved to Channel 4 when it became the home of NFL on UK TV, he hosted NFL Live on Channel 4 every Sunday night alongside Mike Carlson, the NFL International Games and The American Football Show every Saturday Morning or Monday night alongside Vernon Kay between 2012-2015. When Channel 4 dropped the NFL after the 2015 Super Bowl, the BBC agreed to a deal with the NFL to cover the International Games from Wembley and the Super Bowl live with highlights of every week from 2015 onwards, with Coombs and Carlson again reunited to host BBC Coverage. Away from NFL Coombs also presented both live NFL and MLB coverage (including the World Series) on BBC Radio, where he was the regular host of the weekly MLB show between 2010–2013.
