Narora is located on the banks of river Ganges, in district Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh. A nuclear power plant is located in its vicinity.

As of 2001 India census, Narora had a population of 20,376. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Its average literacy rate is 58%, lower than the national average of 59.5%, with male literacy 65% and female literacy 49%. In Narora, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age. People here are very friendly and welcoming. Every religion has its mark in Narora with Hindus in dominance.

Narora is home to one of the nation's network of nuclear power plants, operated by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), a public sector undertaking under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. Its twin reactors (2X220 MW) are Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor(PHWR)-Type reactors, which operate on natural uranium as fuel and heavy water as the moderator-cum-primary coolant. This is one of the reactors for which fuel would be procured from U.S.A. under the '123 Nuclear Treaty' signed by the Governments of India and the United States of America in October 2008.There are several brick kilns in vicinity of Naraora employing close to thousand people. A chilling plant is also situated at 2 km from the city centre. Narora. Narora also houses the circle office of Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department. It operates and maintains the canals bifurcating from the main river ganga. There are more than 4 banks in the region viz. State Bank of India (having 3 branches), Punjab National Bank and a co-operative bank. Narora is also witnessing the light of urbanization with every passing day. Many Showrooms have come up in the recent years like SWARAJ MAZDA TRACTORS,TVS BIKES&SCOOTERS,HERO MOTO CORP. to name a few. All this has made the purchasing of two-wheelers very convienent and comfortable as against they were supposed to go and buy from Aligarh, Babrala OR Dibai.
