NRG eSports is an esports organization based in California. It has rosters in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Smite, Hearthstone, For Honor, Rocket League and Vainglory as well as a number of streamers on the Twitch platform.
The team was founded by Gerard Kelly and Sacramento Kings co-owners Andy Miller and Mark Mastrov in December 2015.
On March 18, 2016 the team announced that Alex Rodriguez, Shaquille O'Neal and Jimmy Rollins were joining as investors.
On August 3, NRG signed the members of the former Overwatch team Luminosity Gaming.
The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player Nairoby "Nairo" Quezada joined NRG on August 23, 2016 after he left Team Liquid.
On September 1, NRG acquired defending Smite World Champions team Panthera.
On October 1, NRG acquired Rocket League team Kings of Urban.
On April 13, 2017, Brandon "Seagull" Larned stepped down from the main roster to commit to streaming full time, but is still a part of NRG.
