N. Kuttikrishna Pillai, better known as N. K. Desam (Malayalam: എൻ. കെ. ദേശം; born October 31, 1936), is a Malayalam-language poet and literary critic from the south Indian state of Kerala. His poetry collection Mudra won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009.
He was born in 1936 in Desam village near Alwaye as the son of Padinjarevalappil P. K. Narayana Pillai and Poovathumpadavil Kunjukutty Pillai. After graduating in Malayalam literature, he obtained a job in the Life Insurance Corporation of India in 1960 before starting his literary career as a poet and critic.
