Musselshell County is a county located in the U.S. state of Montana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,538. Its county seat is Roundup.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,871 square miles (4,850 km2), of which 1,868 square miles (4,840 km2) is land and 2.8 square miles (7.3 km2) (0.1%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 4,497 people, 1,878 , and 1,235 residing in the county. The population density is 2 people per square mile (1/km²). There are 2,317 housing units at an average density of <1/km² (1/sq mi). The racial makeup of the county is 96.91% White, 0.07% Black or African American, 1.27% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.38% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 1.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. 26.6% were of German, 14.8% English, 8.4% Norwegian, 8.1% Irish and 7.4% American ancestry. 96.5% spoke English and 2.6% German as their first language.
