Munna (born as Kenny Simon on 1 May) is an Indian film actor, who has notably appeared in Tamil films. He has acted in Gaurisankaram, Silandhi, Kandein Kadhalai and Raavanan.
Munna was born as Kenny Simon in Chennai. His family hails from Agamally in Cochin, Kerala. He completed his Physiotherapy at Little Flower Hospital. After practising for one year in Chennai, he shifted his attention towards acting.
Despite being born into a filmi family, he initially didn't want to pursue acting. When he entered the Tamil film industry, he renamed himself as Ashwin. Later he considered the name to be unlucky & changed it to his pet name Munna.
His initial films like Pallavan, Jananam and Unnai Enakku Pudichirukku were highly unsuccessful films as they failed to create any impact at the box office. He eventually gained attention with the 2008 low-budget thriller Silandhi, following it up with the successful Kandein Kadhalai, appearing alongside Bharath and Tamannaah Bhatia. Subsequently he was signed by Indian director Mani Ratnam to enact a supporting role in his magnum opus Raavanan, along with prominent film artists Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Priyamani.
