Mulanthuruthy, also spelt Mulamthuruthy, is a small town in Ernakulam District of Kerala. It is about 21 km south-east of Ernakulam and 8 km east of Tripunithura.
Marthoman church one of the ancient and prominent churches of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church and Malankara Orthodox Church is situated here.It has one more historical importance that it was the home parish of Parumala Mar Gregorios (Parumala Thirumeni) Mulanthuruthy also holds the Grama Panchayat and Block Panchayath with the same name.This beautiful land holds almost all the tourists attractions-Enchanting back waters, historic monuments, sacred pilgrim centres, magical festivals, spectacular art forms, splendid cultural heritage, spicy cuisine and unadulterated countryside life.

As of 2001[update] India census, Mulamthuruthy had a population of 23615 with 11667 males and 11948 females.
This church is believed to be built between 1100 AD and 1125. Kunnassery Kunchakko Tharakan who was the minister of the king of Kaduthuruthy was instrumental in building this church. The church is famous for its construction which merged eastern and european styles. The church is famous for its historical importance. Mulanthuruthy church was the venue of the famous Mulanthuruthy Synod in 1876 convened by the Holy patriarch of Antioch Peter III. The Late Lamented Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Yakoob III visited this church, during 1964. The formal Patriarch Moran or Ignatius Zakka II was to have visited the church twice, during 1982 and 2000.
