Monte Cara is a mountain in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. Its elevation is 489 m, it is one of the island's tallest summit mainly the fourth, it is shorter than Madeiral and nearby Fateixa in the southwest, the latter forms the small mountain range of the west of the island. It is situated 5 km west of the island capital Mindelo, and falls steeply to the Atlantic Ocean to its north along with Porto Grande, a feature that is also a caldera. The name means "the face mountain", for its resemblance of a reclining giant's face, one of the two could be George Washington or Henry the Navigator.

The mountain plays a role on the island's culture and is the true symbol of the city of Mindelo.

The geology forms a part of a rock formation known as Madeiral-Monte Cara formation with its length of 10 to 12 kilometers and rocks are deep as 2,500 meters. They were formed about 4.5 to 3.1 million years ago.

The lower portions of the mountain is vegetated but not in higher areas where escarpments are dominated, it is not as vegetated as to Monte Verde, along with the area north of Mindelo and many areas of the south of the island.

The song Monte Cara was featured in the album Voz d'Amor (2003) by Cesária Évora. A recording company founded by Bana named Discos Monte Cara based in Lisbon, Portugal is named after the mountain.
