Miro Weinberger (born February 25, 1970) is an American politician and the incumbent mayor of Burlington, Vermont, in the United States.
Weinberger was formerly a member of the airport commission for the Burlington International Airport. He was the Chittenden County Democratic Chair during the 2004 election cycle.
Weinberger was elected mayor of Burlington on March 6, 2012. He is the first Democratic mayor since U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders took office in 1981. In the election for Mayor, Weinberger was endorsed by Sanders as well as former Progressive Mayor Peter Clavelle and Democratic Governor Peter Shumlin after Miro won the contested primary and was only facing token Republican opposition. Weinberger won with 57.7% of the vote. He was re-elected to a second term on a state holiday, Tuesday, March 3, 2015 (Town Meeting Day in Vermont).
Weinberger married Stacy Sherwat in 2000, and they have two daughters, Li Lin and Ada. He plays catcher for the Burlington Cardinals in an over-35 men's baseball league. Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Bill Lee is also on the team. In addition to politics, Weinberger was also formerly board president of the Turning Point Center for Chittenden County, and served on the board of the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center.
