The Defense Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazakh:Қазақстан Республикасының Қорғаныс министрлігі) is the head of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan. The minister's duties are to exercise the administrative leadership of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The position was established in May 1992 and is currently headed by Saken Zhasuzakov. The first Minister of Defense was Army General Sagadat Nurmagambetov from May 1992 to October 16, 1995.
